India's drug pricing authority to be probed
The Indian government is aware of complaints against the drugprice-fixing methods adopted by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, according to the Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Suresh Prabhu.
He is quoted by the Financial Express as saying that the Ministry has directed the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to conduct an in-depth audit on the NPPA. "Our idea is to bring total transparency into the working of the organization," said Mr Prabhu, adding: "the new price control mechanism will make use of modern tools for monitoring prices."
