The obesity drug market is moving into a more practical second phase.

The first wave was defined by demand for injectable GLP-1 drugs, led by Danish pharma Novo Nordisk (NOV: N) with Wegovy (semaglutide) and US pharma giant Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) with Zepbound (tirzepatide). Supply constraints, rapid prescribing growth and strong public interest made obesity one of the industry’s most closely watched markets.
