InterMune jumps 29% as IPF drug pirfenidone meets endpoint in one study, though fails another

Shares in US firm InterMune rose 29% to $15.27 on February 3, after its idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis drug pirfenidone met the primary endpoint  of a late-stage study, though another trial failed to meet significance.

The primary endpoint of change in percentage predicted Forced Vital  Capacity at week 72 was met with statistical significance in CAPACITY 2  (p=0.001), along with the secondary endpoints of categorical change in  FVC and progression-free survival.
