Italy's Farmindustria warning on fake drugs

Italy's research-based pharmaceutical association, Farmindustria, has welcomed social research institute the Censis' publication of data  concerning the risk of counterfeit medicines in the country. Although  the estimated fake drug market is estimated to be only 0.1%, people are  also at risk from the unsupervised on-line purchase of prescription  agents, with anabolic steroids considered to be a particular problem.

Welfare Undersecretary Ferruccio Fazio, speaking at a conference  organized by the Censis, announced a 60.0-million-euro ($78.8 million)  program to monitor pharmacies and sports centers to evaluate the extent  of prescription drug abuse in the country.
