Mandated E-Rxing push by PCMA, AMA opposes

The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association has launched an advertising campaign across the USA to promote the adoption of electronic prescribing by federal drug programs, as part of a legislative package under consideration by the US Congress. The move has the support of leading Democrat members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

However, such a mandated scheme is opposed by the American Medical Association, which argues that physicians cannot afford the cost of switching to paper-less prescribing without federal assistance, according to Congress' newspaper, The Hill.
