Medarex to Acquire GenPharm International

- Medarex is to acquire GenPharm International for up to $65 millionin Medarex common stock. With the acquisition, Medarex gains GenPharm's antibody-dicovery platform, called HuMab-Mouse, as well as three partnerships with Eisai, Centocor and LeukoSite. Medarex will also receive up to $33 million cash from licensing fees and other payments to GenPharm. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
