Medicines Australia plea: no more PBS cuts

Hundreds of high-wage, high-skill jobs in Australia's A$18.0-billion ($11.89 billion) pharmaceutical industry are under threat from the  global economic crisis, trade group Medicines Australia's chief  executive, Ian Chalmers, has warned.

He pointed out that the government could protect jobs and encourage  foreign investment in Australia's drug industry by ensuring there were  no further cuts to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, and by  implementing key industry support measures.
