NCCN gets $1.5M grant from B-MS/ImClone
The USA's non-profit National Comprehensive Cancer Network has been awarded a $1.5-million grant from drug major Bristol-Myers Squibb and ImClone Systems (which is being acquired by Eli Lilly; Marketletter October 13) to fund research on the antibody cetuximab, the active ingredient of their jointly-marketed Erbitux in patients with bladder cancer.
The novel targeted therapy has proven effective in various other types of cancer including colorectal and head and neck. The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center is the coordinating center for the study.
