New Google application for patient assistance programs

PatientAssistance.com, a US non-profit organization providing information on thousands of patient assistance programs to help users better manage and reduce prescription drug costs, has released a new integrated service on the Google Health platform. The new application enables users to automatically search for patient assistance drug programs for which they are eligible based on the medications included in their Google Health profile.

Recent economic fluctuations have put more pressure on consumers with medical costs - especially those individuals likely facing the highest prescription drug costs. It is more important than ever for them to find more affordable ways of getting the medications they need. Patient Assist helps users do just that - save money on prescription drugs by finding available patient assistance programs, the organization claims. A patient assistance program is a service offered by pharmaceutical companies to help low-income, under-insured, or uninsured individuals and families afford necessary medications, with reduced-cost or free prescription drugs.

"The more medications a patient is required to take, the longer and more difficult it can become for them to find patience assistance programs that meet all of their needs," says Rex Bowden, president of PatientAssistance.com. "Our new integrated service on the Google Health platform is designed to make that process much easier by allowing users to search for programs on multiple medications at once, while using existing information to save time in searching for eligible programs that meet all, or most, of the patient's needs," he added.
