Dutch drug delivery and development company OctoPlus NV says that results from a Phase I study of its controlled-release formulation of chronic hepatitis C drug Locteron (interferon alfa) demonstrate its clinical activity. The results, which are published in the current issue of the Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research, also show that the agent is associated with a lower occurrence of flu-like side-effects than Schering-Plough's PEG-Intron (pegylated interferon alfa-2a), which was used as the comparator.
