The Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development says the UK government's National health Service reform is "a bold attempt to introduce elements of competition into the centrally-financed health care system" which has increased NHS efficiency.
While acknowledging that the NHS is "a remarkably cost-effective institution," an OECD report says the reforms are producing "increasingly encouraging results," but it criticizes the government for not making adequate attempts to monitor the impact of the changes.
