Once-weekly Actonel launched in UK

A once-weekly version of Aventis and Procter & Gamble's bisphosphonateActonel (risedronate) has been launched in the UK for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The formulation has a National Health Service price of L21.83 ($35.82) per month, equivalent to the daily formulation of the drug and at a 6% discount to Merck & Co's once-weekly form of Fosamax (alendronate). The new formulation is already registered in the USA and various other countries.
