Only 52% of Americans plan to get flu shots this year

According to a new survey from USA-based Consumer Reports Health, just 52% of Americans plan to get vaccinated against influenza this year, despite the fact that it is the best method of prevention.

By conducting 2,011 telephone interviews, the market intelligence firm uncovered a list of common excuses for not getting the vaccine, including 5% of people who say they would rather get sick than go to work. The vaccine is available free for many (65% of those who have already been vaccinated reported no out-of-pocket expense), and at nominal cost for others.
