Asthma and COPD drug revenues to reach $43.8 billion in 2015, says Visiongain
Worldwide sales of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) drugs will reach a value of $43.8 billion in 2015. That market generated revenues of $32.1 billion in 2010, according to Asthma and COPD Therapies: World Market 2011-2021, published by business information company Visiongain.
Asthma and COPD are inflammatory disorders characterised by variable airflow obstruction and airway hyper-responsiveness to a variety of intrinsic, genetic and environmental stimuli. Those disorders are one of the leading causes of disability and death. Their prevalence and incidence are increasing worldwide, the report notes.
