
Shares of Amicus Therapeutics (Nasdaq: FOLD) shot up 30% to $10.89 in pre-market activity today, on the news of a takeover offer from fellow USA-based BioMarin (Nasdaq: MMRN).
Under a deal unanimously board recommended to Amicus' stockholders, BioMarin is to acquire Amicus for $14.50 per share in an all-cash transaction for a total equity value of approximately $4.8 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory clearances, approval by the stockholders of Amicus and other customary closing conditions. BioMarin is taking on non-convertible debt of $3.7 billion to finance the deal.
