
The 39% tariffs imposed by the USA threaten Switzerland with enormous economic damage. Even though pharmaceutical products are exempt from tariffs for the time being, with the latest decision on "Most Favored Nation Drug Pricing," the US government is jeopardizing the global supply of innovative medicines, said the Swiss pharma trade group Interpharma.
This also affects research-based pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland and the supply of medicines in Switzerland. Regardless of the outcome, Switzerland must urgently focus on improving its own framework. Comprehensive reforms are needed to secure Switzerland's position as a pharmaceutical center, improve patient access, and ensure continued investment in the research and development of innovative medicines.
