
The vaccine advisory committee to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has voted to make COVID-19 vaccination a matter of personal choice, ending a years-long era of universal recommendation. The move means providers will guide immunization decisions, with insurance and federal programs continuing to cover the shots.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) agreed unanimously that all people aged six months and older should consider vaccination through shared decision-making with a physician, nurse or pharmacist.
