EFPIA urges stronger EU action on rare diseases

The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) has called for stronger action on rare diseases, warning that fragmented systems continue to hold back research, diagnosis and access to treatment.

In an article titled Rare Diseases in a changing and competitive Europe, published around the European Conference on Rare Diseases in Prague, EFPIA said a European Union (EU) Action Plan on Rare Diseases would provide a clearer framework for improving care for millions of people.
