Fiocruz links up with pharmas to produce medicine for SMA

Brazil’s Fiocruz and domestic drugmaker Hypera Pharma and China’s Aurisco Pharmaceutical have signed a Partnership for Productive Development (PDP) aimed at the development and national manufacturing of the drug nusinersen, used in the treatment of 5q spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

Nusinersen is the active ingredient of Biogen’s (Nasdaq: BIIB) Spinraza.
