Gedeon Richter launches Nalvee in UK

5 August 2025

Hungary’s largest drugmaker Gedeon Richter (RICHT: HB) has announced the UK launch of Nalvee (10mg dydrogesterone), a highly bioavailable oral progestogen tablet for hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Dydrogesterone is a long-established body-similar synthetic progestogen that closely mimics natural progesterone.

The company explained that Nalvee is a branded generic of a dydrogesterone-only product which was initially launched in 1961. However, it was withdrawn from the UK market in 2008 due to commercial reasons associated with the decline in HRT use at that time, although it remains available in other markets. Dydrogesterone has shown a favorable safety and tolerability profile spanning its 60 years of use.5
