GHIT Fund commits $18 million to advance six global infectious disease R&D programs

Japan-based Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund has committed around 2.86 billion yen ($18 million) to six R&D projects targeting malaria, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases.

The largest award, worth about 910 million yen, will support preclinical development of a long-acting injectable for malaria prevention being developed by Japanese pharma Shionogi (TYO: 4507), Nagasaki University and Medicines for Malaria Venture.
