Grifols breaks ground on new manufacturing site in Spain

Spanish plasma-derived medicines company Grifols (MCE: GRF) has held the ground-breaking ceremony for its new plant in Lliçà de Vall (Barcelona). The facility, expected to begin operations in 2030, will strengthen the company's industrial capacity in Catalonia to meet the growing demand for plasma-derived medicines in Europe.

The plant represents an initial investment of 160 million euros ($185 million). Once completed, it will increase Grifols’ plasma fractionation capacity in Europe by three million liters, further strengthening the company’s ability to ensure the supply of essential medicines, such as immunoglobulins and other plasma-derived treatments, for the more than 300,000 patients across the continent.
