Indian pharma continues buying trend

The Indian pharmaceutical sector’s aggressive global expansion and diversification strategy continues unabated, with a further batch of M&A deals.

Zydus Lifesciences (BOM: 532321) has completed its $166.4 million merger with USA-based Assertio Holdings, ending a spring bidding war. The Indian company acquired 66.3% of shares at $23.50 each. Assertio will merge into Zydus and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, strengthening Zydus' US specialty portfolio.
