Swiss contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Lonza (SIX: LONN) is adding large-scale commercial capacity in the USA, with a new plant at its Bend, Oregon site that the company says will make it the country's biggest provider of contract spray-drying capacity at commercial scale.
The facility, announced on September 10, will house two of the largest commercial spray dryers, known as PSD-4 units, and is due for completion in 2029. Lonza has not put a number on the spend, describing it only as a significant capital investment, but says the project will initially create more than 80 jobs.
