Indian drugmaker Mankind Pharma (NSE: MANKIND) has taken exclusive Indian rights to two insulin analogues developed by Chinese biopharmaceutical firm Chongqing Chenan Biopharmaceutical, under an in-licensing and marketing agreement announced on August 20. The deal covers insulin degludec and a fixed combination of insulin degludec and insulin aspart. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Both products are versions of Novo Nordisk (NOV: N) medicines: the ultra long-acting basal insulin Tresiba (insulin degludec) and the co-formulation Ryzodeg (insulin degludec and insulin aspart). Licensing them gives Mankind finished analogue products for its injectable diabetes range without committing further capital to its own biologics capacity.
