MHRA approves Chiesi's carbon minimal inhaler - a world first

Privately-held Italian drugmaker Chiesi today announced UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approval of Clenil Modulite (beclometasone; 100mcg and 200mcg) formulated with a next-generation, non-PFAS, low GWP propellant.

The approval marks the world's first authorization of pressurised metered dose inhalers (pMDI) using the next-generation propellant HFA-152a. The propellant itself is not an active medicine but is used to deliver the inhaled dose, the MHRA noted.
