Novartis' 2nd-qtr 2010 profit leaps 19%, boosted by newer products; ups sales forecast

Swiss drug major  Novartis has delivered a strong set of second-quarter 2010 financial results, posting sales of $11.7 billion, up 11 (+12% at constant currencies), fueled by the firm's newer drug products, with net profits leaping 19% to $2.42 billion, and earnings per share rising 18% to $1.06 for the period.
