Russia considering increasing procurements of hepatitis C drugs

Russia is considering increasing drug procurements against hepatitis C. According to official data, governmental procurements of such drugs over the last year and a half has reached almost 50 billion roubles ($619.2 million), reports The Pharma Letter’s local correspondent.

In 2025 alone, funding has increased by 17%. Still, despite such increases, experts are raising concerns about the challenges limiting effective fight against the disease. According to independent expert assessments, the number of people suffering from chronic hepatitis C in Russia is by 2.5 times higher the official state figures. That means that the current procurements are insufficient to solve the problem.
