
Ireland-headquartered biopharma Jazz Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: JAZZ) and Spanish drugmaker PharmaMar (BME: PHM) have reported a late-stage setback for Zepzelca (lurbinectedin) in relapsed metastatic small-cell lung cancer, after the drug missed the main goal of a confirmatory Phase III study.
The LAGOON trial tested Zepzelca alone or in combination with irinotecan against investigators’ choice of topotecan or irinotecan in patients receiving second-line treatment. Neither Zepzelca arm delivered a statistically significant overall survival benefit versus control.
