NICE recommends once-weekly Sogroya for pediatric GHD

Sogroya (somapacitan injection) has been recommended by UK health technology assessor the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment for people aged 3 to 17 years with pediatric growth hormone deficiency, the UK subsidiary of Denmark’s Novo Nordisk (NOV: N) revealed yesterday.

The treatment is used as a once-weekly replacement of endogenous growth hormone (GH) in people 3 to 17 years with growth failure due to growth hormone deficiency (pediatric GHD).

For the majority of people, growth hormone is produced naturally by the pituitary gland in the brain. As its name implies, growth hormone is essential for growth in childhood.
