The initial small tariff on pharmaceutical imports will be increased to 150% within 18 months and eventually to 250%, according to President Trump’s comments in a CNBC interview.
"In one year, one and a half years maximum, it's going to go to 150% and then it's going to go to 250%, because we want pharmaceuticals made in our country,” President Trump said.
Industry has responded to the efforts to boost domestic production in the USA, with numerous pharma and biotech companies announcing new investments in US facilities.
