Swiss drug major Roche (ROG: VX) has appointed Alan Hippe - a newcomer to the pharmaceutical sector - to succeed Erich Hunziker - who, aged 58, has decided to retire - as chief financial officer of the company.
Mr Hippe will join Roche as a member of the corporate executive committee as of April 2011. He served as a member of the executive board of Continental AG from 2002 to 2009. Since April 2009 he has been CFO and a member of the executive board of Germany’s largest steel maker ThyssenKrupp AG.
Mr Hunziker has chosen to retire from Roche at the end of March 2011 and plans to focus on a number of board memberships. He was appointed CFO and member of the corporate executive committee in 2001, becoming deputy head of that committee in 2005. In 2010 he also assumed the role of chief information officer.
