Roche underlines obesity and Alzheimer’s ambitions

Swiss pharma giant Roche (ROG: SIX) could be among the best-placed drugmakers to tackle two of today’s biggest challenges in global healthcare, according to Teresa Graham, chief executive of its Pharmaceuticals division. 

Speaking at The Financial Times’ Global Pharma and Biotech Summit in London, UK, this week, Ms Graham outlined the potential that her company has to treat patients with obesity and Alzheimer’s, diseases which represent two of the largest market opportunities for those that offer effective solutions.

In obesity, while Roche has found itself behind early frontrunners Novo Nordisk (NOV: N) and Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY), but Ms Graham is very confident in the portfolio of treatments that the company is developing, which includes both injectable and oral medications.
