Republican Senator Bill Cassidy has called for Wednesday’s meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to be delayed.
The committee is set to meet with a dramatically different membership following the changes made to its make-up by Robert F Kennedy Jr (RFK Jr), US Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Perceived as a vaccine skeptic, RFK Jr sacked the entire 17-member panel and installed eight others to take their place, including some who have expressed similar views on vaccines, ahead of this meeting, when immunizations against anthrax, chikungunya, COVID-19 and influenza are set to be among those discussed.
