Trump yanks USA from WHO on first day of second term

Signalling the strength of his intention to shake things up in Washington, Donald Trump has formally withdrawn the USA from the World Health Organization (WHO), citing what he described as the organization's “mismanagement” of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reflecting his antipathy toward both China and scientific consensus, Mr Trump's statement declared that the pandemic “arose out of Wuhan.” 

While accidental transmission in this area is one potential source, the outbreak's origin has never firmly been established.
