Pierre Fabre Dermatologie, a subsidiary of the privately-held French drugmaker, has launched Itax lotion (cyclomethicone) for the treatment of head lice infestation.
The firm says the lotion overcomes the build-up of resistance by utilizing a physical action rather than a chemical approach. The silicone-based product forms an occlusive film around the lice, obstructing their airways. The company claims the lotion is effective in killing 92% of lice within one hour of application.
