Record sales for Sanofi Japan, says president

French drug major Sanofi-Aventis' Japanese subsidiary posted full-year 2008 revenue increased 19% to 1.41 billion euros ($1.88 billion), the  10th-highest earner on the local prescription drug market, the firm's  president, Patrick Chocat, announced at a Tokyo press conference on  April 10.

The subsidiary's head attributed the figures to growth in mainstay  products, including blood-thinner Plavix (clopidogrel) and diabetes  product Lantus (insulin glargin), which achieved the largest share of  the Japanese basic insulin market at the end of the year.
