RFK Jr stresses savings priority in defending HHS cuts

US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr (RFK Jr) has spoken in defence of his proposed HHS budget for fiscal year 2026 to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee.

With the backing of US President Donald Trump, RFK Jr has embarked on a radical cost-cutting drive that involves spending being reduced and jobs being culled across HHS agencies, with up to 10,000 roles eliminated in April.
