Rx drug abuse growing US study finds

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America's annual tracking study suggests that one in five teenagers has abused a prescription drug medication; the same number has done so with prescription stimulants and tranquilizers; and one in 10 have abused cough medicines. One of the explanations for the relatively high levels of prescribable medicines being used as narcotics by children is their easier accessibility versus controlled substances (Marketletter September 17, 2007).
