Sanofi may have Dengue vacc by 2015

21 April 2009

Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of French drug major Sanofi-Aventis, has begun clinical studies of its investigational  tetravalent Dengue vaccine in Singapore and Vietnam. The firm announced  it is expanding its global Dengue vaccine program in Asia, where trials  are already ongoing in Thailand and the Philippines.

The Bloomberg news service says the trials will recruit 1,200 people in  Singapore and 180 in Vietnam. If successful, Sanofi will proceed to  final-stage trials, which will involve tens of thousands of people, a  spokesperson told Bloomberg. The firm hopes to have a candidate ready to  file by 2015.
