SemBioSys gets $2.5M from MannKind for plant-based insulin
Canada's SemBioSys Genetics says that US firm MannKind Corp has purchased an option to license rights to its proprietary plant-produced recombinant human insulin. The option period ends on March 31, 2009. Terms of the deal stipulate that the primary use of SemBioSys' plant-produced insulin would be for Aresa, MannKind's ultra-rapid acting insulin, which recently completed Phase III studies.
