Sir Austin Bide, former Chairman of Glaxo, dies aged 92
Sir Austin Bide, the former chairman of the then Glaxo Group, has died aged 92. A chemist who worked on the development of penicillin, Sir Austin joined the board of the UK drug major in 1963, and oversaw the firm's expansion into the USA and the production of the Zantac (ranitidine) anti-ulcer drug.
