SMITHKLINE BEECHAM UNITS STAY ON FT-SE 100

- In September last year, the FT-SE Actuaries Committee had advised SmithKline Beecham that its unit shares, making up just under half of its market capitalization, would be excluded from the FT-SE 100 index (Marketletter September 20, 1993). However, the committee has approved a new rule governing the treatment of stapled units, with the effect that SmithKline Beecham Units will remain on the index.
