Wall Street watched in awe as Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) made rampant gains in early trading Thursday.
The US pharma major was trading 13% higher after announcing positive top-line Phase III results from ACHIEVE-1, comparing orforglipron to placebo in adults with type 2 diabetes and inadequate glycemic control with diet and exercise alone.
Orforglipron is the first oral small molecule glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, taken without food and water restrictions, to successfully complete a Phase III trial.
