Steven Galson named acting US Surgeon General, replaced by Janet Woodcock
Steven Galson has been appointed Acting US Surgeon General, starting October 1. Since joining the US Food and Drug Administration in 2001, he has headed the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Janet Woodcock will replace him as acting Director of the CDER. She will also retain her position as the FDA's Deputy Commissioner and permanent Chief Medical Officer.
