Study finds no suicide link with Merck & Co's Singulair

7 September 2008

An independent study sponsored by the American Lung Association has found no evidence of depression or suicide linked to US drug major Merck & Co's Singulair (montelukast), despite recent evidence (Marketletter April 7).

ALA researchers Janet Holbrook and Raida Harik-Khan have analyzed data from patients who had participated in past clinical trials involving montelukast conducted by the Association's Asthma Clinical Research Centers Network to identify any signals that might suggest a link between the agent and its effect on emotional wellbeing. They will publish their findings in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
