Synosia initiates proof-of-concept nitisinone study in RLS

Switzerland's Synosia Therapeutics has initiated a proof-of-concept trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nitisinone (SYN-118), a potent and selective inhibitor of hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase, as a treatment for restless legs syndrome.

The trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in patients with moderate-to-severe symptoms of RLS being conducted in two experienced European centers. Results will be assessed using objective motor signs such as periodic limb movements and subjective severity ratings scales.
