The Biotechnology Industry Association, which represents UK-based health care biotechnology firms, has welcomed the report by Lord Darzi, into the future of health care, including plans for a National Health Service "constitution" (Marketletter June 30). However, the BIA's chief executive, Aisling Burnard, stressed "a clear need to encourage uptake of innovation by the NHS." She stated that Lord Darzi had taken up issues championed by the BIA over the last year.
