Germany's Merck KGaA says Madagascar is one of the first African countries to receive Cesol (praziquantel) tablets to combat the worm disease schistosomiasis.
The Merck Praziquantel Donation Program has treated around 650,000 school children to date, compared with 110,000 people treated in the country from 1999 to 2006. Merck says the program will enable the treatment of more than one million children by the end of the year.
