US Court orders Plan B pill to be OTC for 17 year olds
The US Federal District Court in New York has dismissed a Food and Drug Administration decision to restrict to 18 years, the minimum age at which Barr Pharmaceuticals' emergency contraceptive pill, Plan B (levonorgestrel) could be bought over-the-counter. Judge Edward Korman also called for the federal agency to consider scrapping any OTC restrictions on the drug's sale.
The New York Times reports that the FDA has 30 days from the day of the ruling, March 23 to comply with the order.
